Your Doyle's details are impressive and admirable! I hope that your son-in-law can appreciate the extensive detailing on it.

A little more progess on the ISW 1/350 PBM-3 Mariner diorama. (I've removed the propellers while painting the water.)

How about these for reference photos?!!!
USCGC Bering Strait WHEC-382 while being painted gray in 1970 in Subic Bay, The Philippines.
Credit goes to John Reuter who took the photos and Jerry Muller who enhanced them and sent them to me. Both were shipmates aboard The Straits in 1970.

Great photos. I never noticed before but that bow has the same tapered radius along the edge as a Benson/Gleaves class.

This is a favorite photo of mine. It shows a nice comparision in the beams of AVPs (41 feet) and DDs.
Are these Benson/Gleaves class DDs?

Re: Calling all USS Barnegat class Seaplane Tender Fans
Greetings all,
I realized that it has been awhile since I posted an update on the progress of the USS Cook Inlet. At this point the hull is just about ready for the final coat of primer and getting prepped up for paint. I still need to add the 38 supports for the torpedo splinter shield and a couple more overboard discharge ports; other than that.....paint booth here we come!

If you look really close on the bridge wing you'll see a 20mm; this is a modified WEM 1/144 20mm. The base is about a foot too tall, so I cut it down and revised the elevating post. I believe that this is going to look very good; just need to do 5 more.
The 40mm bulwark on the 01 level still needs to be glued down; it was being tested for size at the time of the picture.
I made a master mold and the resin parts you see on the forecastle.
Well, good modeling to all,
Bruce

I don't think it will be done by April 18th. I can bring it along, unfinished.
It may be done for the May 16th show in Council Bluffs, Iowa, though.

Thank you, Nektarios and Orb, for the kind compliments! I think that I like looking at the photos of the model rather than the actual model.

Re: Calling all USS Barnegat class Seaplane Tender Fans
Here are some photos of a wonderful large scale model of the USCGC Bering Strait WAVP-382 from the USCG Museum in Seattle, WA. Can anyone advise on the actual scale of this model? 1/96 maybe?
Photo thanks and credits go to Bob Bryant, master seafairing artist, who volunteered to visit the museum and take these photos for me. http://www.crbryant.com
