Calling all Royal Navy Type 41 and Type 61 class fans!

Post by MichelB »

So, with a lot of people slobbering (hey, gets rid of the mold release ) over the FineWaterline kit, methought it wise to open this thread, for any and all references, discussion and educated guesswork.

Can someone give me a general layout for the ships? I haven't found anything online.

Try the following for photographs

http://www.navyphotos.co.uk/

and

http://www.photoship.co.uk/

search for ships by name on the above sight.

I have just been scanning in my old colour slides I took back in the late 1960s and early 70s so this thread gives me just the excuse I need to show a couple. Quality may not be that great ( i didn't have a very expensive camera and more quailty will have been lost in scanning) but Rob's kit will be an exercise in nostalgia for me.

Interesting photos Don, I'll be looking to do Leopard once I have finished some of my current projects.

Hi don :wave_1:
the shot of Pume at Devonport looks like she's tied up near ST Levans gate not far from the orange statue.
Oh happy days :lol_spit_1:

Best references in books come from Maritime Books.

Their "In Focus" series are very useful for photos of these frigates. Also Freidman's book on Destroyers and Frigates etc.

Info on the 41s is a lot easier than on the 61s as there was a lot less variance amongst the 41 group than amonst the 61 group.

I am currently building an early-fit Puma (T41) and a late fit Lincoln (T61) pics to follow ASAP.

Cheers,

There are some more usefull pics on another website all to 1:96 scale
I have used this site to look at other peoples models.
Deck layouts etc.

There are some good pics of HMS Salisbury in gallery 56 by Ronnie Pieters.
There are also some very usefull pics of other class's of RN frigates,
well worth a look.

it is run by a USA company called Loyana Dockyard.
I will give you the link that i have on my screen
