Also there are a submarine rescue ship a submarine tender and a minesweeper tender that i have unbuilt.

My USS Garcia is almost done. I have to finish the MACK, add the inclined ladders, and the helo safety net rails.

This is a nice and simple kit with sharp details and fit. It doesn't come with PE or decals, but I've used JAG decals and GMM and Tom's PE for the railings. The instructions are very basic, sefl explanitory in the images and there are important written instructions for issues about which variant you'd like to make. Some close up photos of one of the real ships of the class are included, too.

I really like your AOs! Are these the first ones of this type that you've built?

I've made more progress on my USS Josephus Daniels CG-27. The MACKs are really a challenge. The PE with this kit, including thin, tiny platform and yardarm supports are really tough, for me.

Have you received your JAG Belknap kit, yet?

these are not the first underway replenishment ships i build. I have also built all eight Kilauea class ships, one Sacramento Class AOE and one Cimmaron class AO. Of course i still have to build the rest of these classes of ships.

I have not received yet Belknap.

Tom, loving the Long Beach - a friend of mine got it for me for my birthday last year, not a lot of progress to show yet, still waiting on some major parts for the rebuild I'm doing, but it should be quite interesting. By and far I have a feeling it'll be the most unique build of your Long Beach you've seen yet.

Words to live by are, "Don't get too, close to the models." There are flaws, for sure.

The MACKs are permanently attached, now, and ready to rig. I have a few pieces of helo deck safety nets to attach as well a various small pieces of railing, there. I will attach the gun turret antenna last. Tom has included a really nice jig/form to use when bending this piece into shape. I added a small base for this antenna atop the turret by drilling a hole and inserting a piece of styrene rod.

I added a couple of mounts for whip antennas on the fantail. These didn't come with the kit, are on the Josephus Daneils in 1992.

I found the mooring line and hose reels atop the aft superstructure to be too, tall above the railings, so I clipped their legs shorter.

It gets crouded around the SLQ-32s so, I recommend keeping everything tight and close together around this area.

They will be available shortly. First, we have to get both the Belknap and the deck tractors on the website. I'm not exactly sure what the deck tractors and crane will run just yet. I still have to run the numbers for the photoetch. I will also be putting the CVCC together this weekend and posting a picture for you guys to see. By the way, we went out of our way to make sure these were scaled accurately to the original pieces of equipment. The same will be true of the 1/350 ones we will be producing for the upcoming Wasp LHA kit.

Well, the big catch to Flyhawk's beautifully done Mk41 Vertical Launch System cells, as seen on ships such as Ticonderoga, Arleigh Burke, and Spruance, is that they did the hatches for the cells seperate. Great if you are the kind of guy who wants to build his ship in the midst of launching a missile, Bad if you're trying to fold all the hatches into place very carefully and just happen to shift the tool just a little bit wrong - To build the two 64 cell batteries on the bow section of my Long Beach remod, I wound up losing five hatches, on individual sets of eight hatches. The hatches are etched brass, as are the bases, and the hinges are a few microns wide and only a hairsbreadth thick, so they let go rather easily at times. Makes for a serious pain in an unfriendly place if you're unlucky with them, and I Still have to do one more, for the aft block when I get the parts to rebuild that, and even then I have to get the hatches done, somehow, for the four Polaris launch tubes, and think of something to do with the center section and the upper bow step. I'm kinda playing the rebuild by ear, with a few ideas here and there.

Wow going over this thread and what great models! Nice job all. I agree what a great addition the deck tractors will be. Sign me up for some. I have still been working on my LPD 4 USS Austin. Here are some pics. After this is done I will be working on either CGN25 or CGN36-37.

Carl there will be always flaws in a 1/700 scale model for sure. It is impossible not to find if you try to but what counts is the general impression that you get from a model and seeing yours makes one say that it is a very well built one.
