JerseyCon2 - The IPMS/USA Region 2 Show Oct 21/22nd

Post by MartinJQuinn »

JERSEYCON 2 IS COMING!! JERSEYCON 2 IS COMING!!

In just over seven weeks, NJ/IPMS will be once again hosting the IPMS USA Region 2 Two- Day Convention - JERSEYCON 2. The show will be held on Friday & Saturday October 21-22, 2011 at the Wyndham Philadelphia on Route 73 in Mt Laurel NJ (In South Jersey right off Exit 4 of the NJ Turnpike). The Show theme is "America Enters the War". There will also be an award for "Best New Jersey" subject.

All Modelers who ever attended a show put on by New Jersey IPMS know how well run our shows are and what a great time is had by all. We are working on seminars and there are plenty of local attractions, as well as places to eat near the hotel - which is larger than the hotel where we held JerseyCon 1 two years ago. Along with a killer raffle, we'll have a Make N Take for junior modelers the day of the show - always a big hit with the kids.

All the info you need - including contest and model registration forms - can be found right here, or you can click on these direct links:

Show Flyer
Directions
Contest Categories
Contest Rules
Local Attractions
Places to Eat

Trophy Sponsorship Packages and Raffle Sponsorships are still available. Please contact me directly for further information, or click here for Trophy Sponsorship Info. As always, trophy & raffle sponsors will be have their names displayed on our website and at the show, with raffle donors having their names displayed on the items they've donated. Many thanks to those who sponsored in the past - your generosity is much appreciated.

For any other information, you can contact Contest Chairman Bill Schwarz @ 732-567-3724 or PM me here.

Come to JerseyCon and you may run into board regulars such as Keith Bender, Gary Kingzett, Bobby Cicconi and Dan Kaplan, among others. If you plan on coming, feel free to chime in below - we hoping to have a large turnout in the ship categories and to see many of you there!

Just wanted to offer my thanks to those who have sponsored trophy packages and/or provided kits for the raffle, including, but not limited to Tim Dike (Cadman), owner of this site, and Harry from Battlefleet Models. Thank you all for your support.

Remember, if you are part of an IPMS/USA member club, especially one in Delaware, Virginia, Maryland, Eastern PA or NJ (aka IPMS/USA Region 2) please speak to your club leadership about sponsoring a trophy package for the show. This is, after all, the 2011 IPMS Region 2 show.

Details are in the first post above.

Do I have to be there both days in order to enter a model or am I able to enter it only on Sat?

Good question, Ryan.

You only have to show up on Saturday before registration closes to be eligible to enter your model in the show (after we shake you down for the entry fee, that is).

Regional shows, at least in the Region 1 & Region 2 area of IPMS/USA, have traditionally been 2 days shows. We will open up Friday at 3pm for early birds, but mostly it's a day for set up and early shopping at the vendors!

I'm probably only going to be able to come one day. I'm just curious if we know who any of the vendors are already? Didn't talk about it much on Friday.

Four weeks from today the doors open on JerseyCon 2. I will, of course, be posting updates constantly from now until then.

I'm just about to book my hotel room, but I need a guarantee that Keith Bender will not be showing his tan lines and Navy thong at the pool. :heh:

LOL. I think there is a line in the contest rules forbidding that. If not, I'll add it!

Two weeks to go? Obviously, I'll be there, as I'm the head judge. Probably won't have anything on the tables, at least nothing new.

So - who else is actually coming? I'm really hoping for a good ship turnout.

I have my room booked, making it a mini vacation since I have never checked out Philly. Yamato is done, just working on the base and case for herr this week. I may bring my old 1/350 yamato as well just for a visual size comparison between the two.

Less than a week to go!

So...who is winning this?

Remember - if you model has won at a previous IPMS Region 2 or IPMS National Convention, it is not eligible for JerseyCon2. However...if your model won at MosquitoCon, any other local show within Region 2 (or any other region), or any other Regional show (NoreastCon, etc.), it IS eligible for JerseyCon2!
