I am building a 1/96th Constitution and a Cutty Sark in the same scale. The ratlines supplied with the kits are awful!! Is there a fairley easy way to make my own ratlines?? Also is there any way to inprove the decks on the Constitution?? The Cutty Sark came out great but the warps in the Constitution are awful. I would be satisfied to do just the upper deck and leave the lower one as is.

There is no way around tying a few knots at this relatively large scale. This Forum seems to focus mainly on late 19th and 20th century ships in small scales. So you may want to have a look e.g. into www.modelshipworld.com, where several USS CONSTITUTIONS and other contemporary ships are in progress in various scales. A lot rigging details and techniques are discussed in that Forum.

As for the decks, you may want to (super)glue a piece of wood lengthwise or across to take out the warp, if that can be done without being visible. It is also possible to put polystyrol parts into hot water and then weigh them down onto a flat surface while still warm to take out some of the warp.

I am attempting to repair a tall ship that my Grandfather handmade of the, I believe, Mayflower 1. My question at this time is how to tie the shrouds to the dead eyes. Terms of all this is new to me, so if I use them wrong help me out. Tying meaning, which hole of the 3 to start with, sequence to tie (which hole next and threading front or back or visa versa) and how to tie each end together. Not sure if the pictures attached to this post will show. If you know where I can get a picture to see how the rest of the rigging is tied would be very helpful.

Perhaps you should first verify what ship you have. The period will be very important for the way the deadeys are turned in. this changeg quite a bit over time and was different between countries.
