Hi Guys,
Tim,
You might be right! I can't see clearly enough if the hawsepipes are correct or not. That will tell you. Also, the bow/forecastle area looks like the 1/350 Missouri. Tamiya's 1/700 Iowa's have the correct curved hawsepipes, but the 1/350th does not..........unless...unless...unless...you use the L'Arsenal foredeck!!!! :thumbs_up_1: Oh, and a 1/350 Iowa conversion kit.
Let's wait till Jim returns to give us his answer!
My guess is 1/700, as the DD looks like a highly detailed Albatross kit.

1/350

Tamiya Missouri with Tom's Iowa conversion.

YKM Sumner class done as DD-693 Moale.

Good grief guy's, if you think they are 1/700 what do I have to do to improve them :cool_1:

Tony thinking it's 1/700 is a compliment! It's saying how much detail you had cramed onto the model and make it look good!

Hi Guys,
Jim,
Let me first say that both of your models are top notch!
With all of the hype over the Tamiya 1/700 "early" Iowa, my mind went there first. Out of the box thinking I suppose, but this is not about me.
In actuality, the 1/350 Missouri converted to the "early" Iowa would be a lot of work. When did you start on this project? Fellow Iowa Fan, Mark Deakin from the UK only recently finished his Ms22 "early" Iowa, and he's been at it for almost a year, I think. He will really like your model of the Iowa. Of course, your DD is excellent too.
On behalf of all Iowa Fans, (dare I be so bold), I give your Iowa a firm... :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1: ...two thunms up.
Well done!
faifthfully submitted, Tony Bunch

Guy's, I was amused by the confusion and I could not pass up the line.

I even understand where the confusion came from;

1 The ships are waterline.
2 The subjects are rare for 1/350, as a matter of fact I cannot remember if I ever saw a 1/350 Sumner on the web.

To answer your questions about the build, best I can remember it only took a few months, but I am retired and if I get into a build it can go fast. I also had good references which always helps.

You've got me buzzing to get me back to my 1/350 Missouri!

Are you going to enter your Iowa in the TamiyaCon show?
Great looking model...

Not only is there a Sumner on the web, it is the Moale.
Not only pictures, but an article.

One last picture, a closer view of the bridge area. If anyone is puzzled by discussions about the Iowa bridge, this should show the difference.
