But we are talking about different classes of destroyers
Z 17 was a ship of the Typ 1936, whereas the Dragon and Trumpeter kits depict Typ 1936A, Typ 1936A (Mob) or Typ 1936B ships... Do you would like to built a Fletcher class destroyer using a Gearing class kit?
In addition, the lower hull of the Dragon kit is wrong.

Is that a good or bad thing? I dont follow 1/700.sirpaul wrote: On another note the Trumpeter hull looks like a scaled up Dragon Daring.

I agree with you each kit depict a diferent class and the Dragon lower hull is wrong too, seems to me it's stern width is also wrong. For me the better lower hull and general measures is from Zvezda Z-17, perhaps some configurations issues as pointed. Trumpeter has somes hull measures issues too.

If i had too.... But i would choose the kit with the best parts. I also only build waterline so the bottom would make no difference. If you build a ship nice enough, People won't even notice the errors in the kit. They be stuck looking at all the detail work you have done.maxim wrote:But we are talking about different classes of destroyersZ 17 was a ship of the Typ 1936, whereas the Dragon and Trumpeter kits depict Typ 1936A, Typ 1936A (Mob) or Typ 1936B ships... Some people will notice the errors, at least those, who thought a little about the real ship. And they will be annoyed, why someone invested a lot in details, but did not correct some very obvious mistakes
And there very visible differences between a Typ 1936 and a Typ 1936A. As I had written: no amount of detail could hide that a Gearing is not a Fletcher

Wow, indeed - that's the DDH-183 Izumo. Looks even less a "destroyer" than Hyuga and Ise. 27'000 tons under full load, 248m long. What a destroyer!Atma wrote:Is this a JMSDF Izumo in 1/700 from Hasegawa ?

That's fascinating - the ship was launched just about a month ago, and the commissioning is expected for March, 2015 only.
It appears that the model kit will be commissioned sooner than the original... are there usually modifications made between launching and commissioning?
But anyway, that's great news, I wonder when the kit will be released...
Also interesting to see that the 1/700 kits of Hyuga and Ise have been made by Pit Road and Aoshima, the 1/350 kits by Fujimi, and now Hasegawa was quicker with the 1/700 Izumo...
Cheers,
Peter

Thanks for the lead, Hanchang! Added all to the list. Assuming the Izumo is Hasegawa for now...
And the monitor is Roberts, in case anyone (like me) can't tell based only on the model.

Judging from the display stand, it's the Academy kit.

Shimakaze 1/700 New Kit?
If you scroll over past the tanks (on the monitor link) you will see a Shimakaze in 1/700. Can not determine if it is a repop of the old Tamiya kit but if anyone reads Japanese they can help with the source. Even if it is the old Tamiya kit it will probably have needed armament upgrade parts.

Interesting. Let hope they don't mess them up. Not up my alley but I admit tempting. I'm holding out hope for new 1/350 releases from Fujimi and Pit-Road, but no news yet...Hanchang Kuo wrote:Trumpeter 1/350 surprise releases at Tokyo Hobby Show,

Why don't they make Barham in 1/350 too but only in 1/700? So many interesting 1/700 kits not existing in 1/350 ... and Barham is one example more and with all normal understandings, that behaviour of favoring 1/700 scale sucks slowly!Quincy wrote:Barham is this month, Warspite is early 2014.
On the other hand are both, Tsaerevich and HMS Roberts very good news!
