On the 1/200 HMS HOOD release, note that the picture appears to show the original secondary armament, and also the torpedo lookout position on the forward tripod mast, both indicating an earlier version than her final configuration. I hope so.

It says on the webpage that it's not the box cover, but some artwork he's using as a illustration of HMS Hood for guidance only.

It was mentioned in another thread that discussed a page from the Trumpeter 2014/2015 catalogue, which included the Hood and Iowa.

Revell posted some kits that will be released between May and October, and a few ship items included. Might be reissues, dunno, don't remember a Revell Fletcher before.

I am willing to bet the Fletcher is a re-pop of the old Matchbox kit.

Fujimi released a 1/500 Nagato earlier already: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10114817

However! This time it is being sold significantly cheaper, at roughly half the price - I imagine it's a reaction to Hasegawa's reasonably-priced new-tooled 1/450 Yamato.

What's the quality of the Fujimi 1/500 Nagato like?

Well looking at the previous release, it's missing the fire control, binoculars, range finders, search light controllers from around the bridge.

Can't fathom Fujimi doing that

All the range finders are there, the only missing parts are the small binoculars and search light controllers. They are too small for 1.500 and better done in PE than plastic.

Better hull that the Hasegawa's 1/350, and is cheaper even the original expensive edition.

Obviously you didn't scan all the way down, because there was a 1/350 USS Texas and a 1/350 USS New York near the bottom of the new ship kit releases. I'm not interested in either ship, but there's going to be some very happy modelers over those two kits.

Hi Atma,

I may not have used the right terminology, I meant these:

http://www.bnamodelworld.com/veteran-models/vtw35038

And on the subject of small, if Veteran can make them in 1/700, http://www.bnamodelworld.com/veteran-models/vtw70010, then Fujimi should be able to make them in 1/500. It's just that the bridge area was absolutly packed with these types of controllers and looks so balnd without them. Same goes for the binoculars, they were on the top of the bridge and on most of the levels below.

These are the sorts of little details that really make a kit stand out, imho.

The link was already posted above together with the catalogues of HobbyBoss and Merit.

Is it possible that the only new 1/700 kit of Trumpeter and HobbyBoss is the Iwo Jima? Another variant of an LHD?

True, there are several interesting 1/700 aircraft and it is nice that they available separately.
