Calling all Bismarck and Tirpitz fans

Hi all,

Hope this is the right place to post this. Just back into ship modeling and the Bismarck is probably next on my list (lots of inspiration here, or at least making me question my skills...).

Anyway, my shed flooded and the Revell 1/350 Bismarck box was on the floor. Salvaged the plastic and got the instructions dried out enough to be usable, but of course the decals were all nicely spread out all over the ruined box and parts trees! On the plus side, the wooden deck set wasn't in the box so that survived.

So, I'm after a decal set for this kit (or any 1/350 Bismarck decals I guess). I've done various searches but can't find any after-market sets online. Can anyone point me towards a set or suitable decals for this kit?

Hello! I am new here, and have recently taken a renewed interest in model warship construction. And, I was never a pro at it, but had fun. Up on page 1, I studied your photos of the work in progress, and how you applied a real wood deck. Seeing this, and the brass doors and portholes applied to the plastic, how, and when did you apply the paint? It looks like you air-brushed. Did you mask the wood while doing this?

Hi all Bismarck/Tirpitz fans.
I have some questions regarding the Tirpitz "final" camouflage scheme. According to these three pictures from bismarck-class.dk:

It looks to be the last pattern used as of July-November 1944. Most people (including me ) might think that Dazzle camo was her final one. Here from Maretimequest:

I wanted to build a Norway fjord diorama where Tirpitz was sunk and also attempted to paint her in that July-November camo. If possible, I would be very much appreciated if anyone can help identify which Tamiya colours I should be using (there should include XF-54, I assume.)

this dark grey ,med grey white top is correct, Also she had spots on her deck caused by oil thrown up around her while she was under air attack.Dont forget she was heavily damaged and the service boats suffered , there was tarpaulin covering her bows, the starboard crane was missing and the port funnel searchlight cover. she was also riding high at the bow. google tirpitz kaa fiord 1944 and you will get the pics your looking for..hope this helps. Hello all,

I've recently begun building a 1/350 Tamiya Bismarck, but the kit I bought from ebay has a warped hull. I've tried to reshape it using a few methods (boiling water and hairdryer), but it stubbornly returns to its warped shape after a short period.

If anyone has any additional suggestions, or has a spare hull they'd be willing to part with/sell (long shot I know) please let me know, I'm not excited about the prospect of having to buy another kit.

I do not think they are degaussing cables , but foot and hand rails for when the crew were accessing the vertical portions of the ship on the superstructure ....

I noticed they're included in the Pontos 1/200 Bismarck set, but nothing for 1/350

You can purchase those details separately. I don't know the proper terminology but "hand/foot rail" usually turns up something, like here:

They're short railings that have only one horizontal bar.

I am currently working on the Revell Tirpitz 1/350. I have decided to do the following camo pattern:



I intend to use the following colors:

KM06 Dunkelgrau 2 for the dark gray stripes and metal decks.
KM02 Dunkelgrau 51 for the medium gray stripes
KM01 Hellgrau 50 for the light gray parts of the superstructure and the hull plus the funnelcap.
Humbrol 100 Red brown for the turret tops.
Humbrol 147 mixed with white at equal parts for the bow and stern.
White blast bags.

Any suggestions-corrections would be welcomed. Thanks in advance.
