Hi John, I have 1/350 Wasp and Connie in drydock. Weird having two different carriers from different eras being built. Just got my CGN-25 last week. Started a thread on her. Waiting for Long Beach next week.

I thought about putting this in it's own thread. But this is John's monster thread. So I will post my build of Connie on this. I'm not going to detail my hangar bay like Ryan,Laci,Doug and others. Just do enough detail so you could see in the openings. Also no lights have too many builds going on at the same time. Order the Shapeways 1/350 hangar bay openings and Terrier missiles and launch kit. I ask Gregg could he make the old aft sponsons of Kitty Hawk. He said he will give ago. I'm doing enough scratch building myself. Anyhow some photos. Nothing is glue down. Happy Modeling! Hi Ya Hippy! :wave_1:

Lookin good John! One suggestion that I learned the hard way from doing so many of these: Install the top portion of the area that juts out between the two forward elevators before you go much farther along. That part can leave you a pretty nasty seam that can be difficult to deal with once too many other details have been added.

Thanks for the heads up on that one Ryan :thumbs_up_1: The hangar detail is all just dry fitted at the moment, I will be fitting the base plate, then do what you just suggested and then tackle the
Sponsons before coming back to the Hangar detailing.

Looking sharp, nice build. Quick questions for you?
How was the shape ways fire doors and openings. I was looking the other day, and saw a whole new batch of goodies.
Containers for various air craft parts, jet engines on dollies and whole bunch of missiles and bombs and rocket pods. I think they could be used as filler for the hangar decks regardless of the time frame.

Thanks Major B,

The firedoors arrived today and are really nice as are the Hangar bay openings and the Conflag stations......

Greg - gjholmes77 is updating his list of future releases over the weekend..... he certainly is putting some
good items out.... and is doing era related subjects.... the vehicles all look great and yes with the Pallets and
crates and oil drums will all make for a busy looking hangardeck/Flightdeck......

Happy Modeling

John (kidcurrie42),

I love the detailing in the hangar deck! :woo_hoo: It just convinces me more that I should avoid building larger models because of all the detailing involved! :heh:

Thanks John (jcmackay)

Oh do not let the detailing put you off from bulding big..... it is your model, put as much or as little detail in as you so wish....
there are many ways around it.... for example having both firedoors closed would save detailing the whole hangar.....
you can only see so much of the starboard hangar from the port hangar bay opening so you do not really need to detail
the starboard side too much...... basically detail what you can see or what you want to be seen......
