1/700 SLAVA (Borodino)

Post by En-TACT »

This is KomBrig's 1/700 Slava. It came with a photo-etched set by Star Model (China). Anyone know if there is a pre-cut wooden deck for this?
At the same time I working on Tamiya's 1/700 Yamato: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=161768

Thanks!

Looks very sharp so far. As Kombrig decks usually have very fine planking why don you mask and paint the decks?

I really hate to say that En-TACT because you have done such a nice job on this kit. Unfortunately, both Kombrig and Star Model didn't...

This is how Slava's forward bridge should look like:

Thank you for the replies and links to Slava imgs! DariusP that's a beautiful model you have there! Do you have more for me to download as a template for detail and accuracy? After seeing the Russian movie "Admiral" (2008), http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1101026/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2. I was curious if to find the Slava in 1/700 and came across one by Kombrig. I find the detail acceptable. The PE decks are very challenging, one alone can take me 4-6 hours to get it done right!

This is 1:100 model of Slava made by Sergiej Karpik from Bia?orus. You can find more photos of his model here: http://karopka.ru/forum/forum263/topic6699/?PAGEN_1=26
If you PM me your email address I will send you plan and side view of her. Just remember that this is how Slava looked in 1905 and not during the WWI.

After the completion of Tamiya's IJN Battleship Yamato, viewtopic.php?f=59&t=161768&start=100v (I'll post final pics soon), be it my first 1/700 model, I've learned a lot working with that scale and PE parts. I will resume the Slava project with a plan of a docking scene and attention to much of the ship's detail - to start off, correcting that horrendous forward bridge.

After reviewing the detailed schematics of the Slava (provided in the Russian book), I started to remove the casted bollards (boxed in red). The correct places are in green; will be placed with Shelf Oddity's bollards.

I'm finding many inaccurancies with this Combrig's Slava - I have a feeling this mold was meant to be another Borodino battleship??
