I've used the RAL 7038 Hellgrau from AK Interactive's "Colors for German warships" this weekend. Ye gods, that stuff was thin! More like a wash than a paint. Does not cover particularly well and applies very wet and it is easy to get a run. Well nigh useless for brush-painting, for all that it says "Brush & Airbrush" on the bottle.
I'm currently spraying at ca 15 psi, as recommended for Vallejo, using a Badger 360 airbrush. Is there anything I can do to get the AK paint to behave?
AK Interactive colors, any advide on spraying?

Dumb question, but did you stir or shake the bottle first to make sure all the pigment and solvent are evenly mixed?

Yes, I did. I've since talked to other people and their consensus is that yes, it is a thin soup and one just has to get used to it. And they agree that it is quite useless for brush painting, it is airbrush only whatever it says on the bottle. One suggested using even lower pressure on the compressor than I did, which I will try.

I bought AK's USN WW2 Camo paints set 1 and 2 and at first I found them to be a lil thin as well. I airbrush too and what helped me was using a 4 inch long metal rod and stirring the paint thru the top hole and mixing up the pigments at the bottom before pouring into my airbrush cup. I bought some of their RC 702 thinner and it is kinda better on other brands of Acrylic paint then on the AK. I haven't had them but a month and still experimenting with the brand.

I used them on my Jeremiah O'Brien and they airbrushed just fine. They do suck for brushing but I really liked them for airbrushing. I just used them straight out of the bottle with no thinning and they were great for me. I even got some more paints from them for my upcoming Hood project.

I'm struggling to get mine to work properly as well, but did have better success by adding retarder.

There's a lot on the web about this. In my experience with AK, Mig, Vallejo acrylics, light coats and let dry in-between. Resist the urge to lay down heavy coats or flood the paint on.
