Calling all Ise (伊勢) and Hyuga (日向) fans

A lot of people asked for it so its out (soon) 1/700 IJN Ise 1941.

I had one in high school (well Hyuga), but it isn't the same (it's somewhat smaller - discrepancies in casting and scaling but it was suppose to be 700th) kind-of a wreck now, after 30+ years.

Thank you for the info, and the tip GMG. I hadn't considered putting them as the central turrets.
I'm beginning to play around with CAD design and might be able to model the rear superstructure for a conversion.

Notice Fujmi offers the correct turret roof for IJN Ise and IJN Hyuga.

Does anyone have the rigging plans for Ise post '44?

I believe Warship 2009 has them but at $300 it's a bit steep.

warship 2009 have not, i find this in a russian book but in the gakken book onthe class they are lot of fotot from a very detailed model

in modelart vessel model special 53 (autumn 2014) it is a article with beautiful foto of a model 1/700 of the bb ise with all rigging they are also foto of a model of hyuga (1/700) with rigging
i think not difficult to find at reasonable price.

I note 1/350 Hyuga is now released as battleship-carrier, with general improvements. Atma, are there any rumours of a 1/350 all-gun version from your little birds?

Thanks for mentioning the 1/700 Hyuga 1941 Dan... might have to get it as a 'study model'. Rear superstructure looks well done in the kit.

Would the hull scuttles on Fujimi's Ise (1/350) need to be blanked off if i'm building her 'as lost'?

Yes, though portions of the upper row of portholes, particularly around the secondary casemates may have been left unsealed. They were there on trials in August, 1943, once they were converted to BBCVs.

You have two choices. You could use styrene strip, with a punch to create round discs, or you could go the PE route. Two examples of PE versions:

Hi, i'm planning to build Hasegawa 1/700 Hyuga in his BBCV conviguration. I've read there are many inaccuracy within the kit, but is there any major/obvious error in the kit? Sadly i've already bought the kit long time ago (it's rather impulsive buying, no time for research while on vacation in japan lol)

Model Art Ship Modeling Special # 53 (Autumn 2014) has a few pages of a comparative build between a Hasegawa and a Fujimi kit. With improvements and correction, though the pics are small.

I noticed that Hyuga doesn't have sloped side deck like Ise (see images). I wonder what floor material used for that extended side? Is it a wood or metal? Does it changes in her hybrid form?

This is as we say comparing apples to oranges. You have Hyuga before rebuild compared to Ise after rebuild.

You have highlighted the hull bulge added during the rebuild from 1934-1936.

Ah, sorry. I don't know that hull bulge is added later after construction. The reason i'm comparing that is because i see some modeler extends the bulge into simple straight deck, and i tried to find pictures and forget that there is refit on 1934. Can't find good picture on Hyuga in her BB/CV form but here a good picture showing the extended bulge on Ise

I also found this has been confirmed by Atma in here. I assume Hyuga got similar treatment.

So, the question remains, is the floor extended using wood or metal?

The added torpedo bulge is all metal plating.

This bulge appears to be pretty flat on top, while many other navies had curved bulges. The flat top shape greatly reduces manufacturing cost. That is the most likely reason for the shape.
