Here's my 2 cents of the aft aa tower access.

There's a little space between the 2 aa positions and a box like structure under it so it's possible there was access ladders and a trap door there to get access to the platform.

Actually it's not really a videogame, more like an interactive virtual tour. One can buy the software and take the tour themselve, you need a VR headset though. It's on sale on Steam.

After a long hiatus from the Yamato (350th and 200th scale) I've decided to complete the 350th Yamato first and continue the 200th scale once I have the Fujimi sets or see what Fujimi or Trumpeter comes out with in the near future as in complete ship.

For the Tamiya kit I have both the Pontos (basic and advanced) and LionRoar RS3511 detail sets.

I've ran into a problem with the LionRoar (LR) set, there are 2 PE 'D' sheets; majority of this sheet is not mentioned in the instruction booklet. I've tried going on their website but unable to access their download area nor their contact page for help. I am sure it is the PE for Z24, Z25, Z26, and Z27 and D2 on pg 23 of the Tamiya instruction booklet but would like confirmation as well as any other LR PE associated with the construction of these machine gun placements.

Is there anyone on here able to provide assistance or maybe have an updated instruction booklet in PDF format for the LR PE set?

Certainly is, with Fujimi's releases, the time spent scratch building is cut down by alot which will certainly be put to use on my Nichi. Heard alot of rumblings about Trumpeter releasing a Yamato especially after Skulski and Draminski's new book release over a year ago but not holding my breathe for this one. With Fujimi's release of the gun's, bridge and now the stack section makes one wonder if this is leading up to something bigger.

Beautiful work ... except for the GLARING error in leaving the crane tower on her stern. The caption to the video touts this as being a reconstruction of Yamato as of April 7, 1945. Except - that it isn't. The crane tower was removed before Operation Ten-Ichi-Go so as not to obstruct the firing radius of main Turret#3.

So, of course, I had to leave him a comment. I do hope he reads it.

Glad to see the 3D render moving. I have the book as well and such a great source. Did you mention something about the open 25mm shields as well? I always thought the Yamato's open 25mm AA guns didn't have these, but the model does. I can be wrong though ^^

Yes, thanks you beat me to it. It popped up on Facebook a couple of days ago and I already have it up on the website.

It was revealed and displayed at the Yamato Museum in Kure. Details as to where/when it was taken to follow per info at the museum (I am told).

Based on the configuration of the deck, one of the commenters speculated as follows:

"Some indications (are) that this picture was shot between 4 September 1942 and December 1943: The top of the Main Rangefinder is painted white, and you can see that the Type 21 Radar is installed on the Main Rangefinder. This Refit including repainting the Top of the Main Rangefinder .. white was done on .. 3 September 1942. The Top of this Rangefinder was repainted to the original Grey at the End of December 1943. So this picture COULD NOT (have been) shot during her trials."
