Calling all USN Landing Craft Tank (LCT) fans

Hello all,does anyone have a decent photograph of the inside of a 20mm gun tub on a LCT6 ?,i'm building a 1/24 scale one and i'm using the Floating Drydock plans but they are a bit vague on the gun tubs.
I'm interested in the floor and the inside of the sidewalls.

Decking depends on the style of mount of mount on the 20mm. Either pedestal or the light weight tripod mount. There are grated "steps" in a ring
inside the tub on some ships.

The inside of the tub walls were bare, ie just plain steel walls.

Does anyone have or can send a link to a good photo of the stern anchor winch for a WWII Mark 6 LCT? Have found a few distant shots of them in various photos on Navsource.org, but nothing really showing the overall arrangement. I have the Floating Drydock plans, which have a good plan view, but really no side view.

Any one have any information on the appropriate markings for US landing craft at Utah Beach? I have found plenty of photos of LCTs, LSTs, LCMs, and LCVPs with the diamond shape "O" for those in the Omaha beach landings, but have found little on the markings used for those same type of craft landing at Utah Beach. I have seen a very small number of photos with CTU and a three digit number on the superstructures-but could not determine if that was the hull number or some other sequence/designation. Some post d-day photos show LCTs without any markings other than the ship number.

Was building a 1/125 LCT Mk. 6 from the old Lindberg kit. Never found anything-so just went without any markings other than US and the hull numbers on the bow and the ship number on the rear of the pilothouse. Will post pics of the finished project at some point.

I toyed with the idea of placing my 1/125 scale LCT on skids and a deck section of an LST. I found a few photos of the skids and securing methods on Navsource but never found any specs or detailed drawings. I think I found a deck plan for an LST that indicated the spacing/location of the skids. I�ll look for these this evening

I could not locate the drawing that I mentioned, but there is a general drawing of a loaded LST in the Squadron US Landing Craft in Action book (you can do a google seach of LCT, LST and find it). I spent a LOT of time looking through LCT and LST photos on Navsource. I won't post the links, but just go to the Navsource Amphib page and you should be able to find them. These were the best that I was able to locate:
LCT 539-2 photos showing bracing and chains securing the LCT.
LCT 773-launching-showing cradle
LCT 314-2 or 3 good photos showing the loading of a Mk. 5 on an LST
LCT 689-launching photo showing the skids
LCT 1190-launching from LST 78
LCT -182- timbers and restraints
LST 882-overhead view of the cribbing layout on an underway LST

I also have some photos saved from one of the LST pages that shows the cribbing on deck after the LCT has been launched. I can forward those to you if you need them.

I hope this might help. It is in "Selected papers on British Warship design in World War II" which is a collection of papers from the Royal Institute of Naval Architects (ISBN 0 85177 284 6) It has many other interesting items and seems to be quite cheap to buy online. Has anyone managed to look at what might be held by the US National Archives such as specific drawings?

Thanks, that is very useful. Would think the supports for the LCT-6 would be very similar to those of the LCT-5, just maybe an additional one for the difference in length. Appreciate it.

I am keen to build a Mk8 LCT (the British ones which were finished at the very end of the second world war and used through most of the cold war).
I haven't been able to find any plans . Does anyone know of anywhere that might have something?
(I suspect the National Maritime Museum should but there is nothing in their online catalogue and Covid have put paid to archive requests for the time being).
