Any idea of the diameter of the HMS Resolution's screw? I see it exists and is on display at the Royal Navy's Submarine museum.

Let me see if I can dig it up, it's on the grounds of the Royal Navy Submarine Museum Gosport, on the periphery, just off the side of a road leading in. If you start at the museum it's ultimately easy to find, but let me see if I can get those specifics.

Yes, and there are quite a few images taken from similar angles online. But, given that perspective, it's still difficult to determine blade shape. The satellite images helps for sure though.

Oh, and yes, if anyone knows of ANY images of either the HMS Trafalgar's screw, or HMS Swiftsure, point me in the direction. I've seen nothing for either, and I presume part of the problem is one-off nature of each of those lead boats, and so the chance of sneaking a shot would be limited drastically.

it could be it was over 15 years ago that i drove past it. I was delivering a pump to a Dutch frigate i asked if i could use to head and they invited me to stay for lunch, result. The boat was moored astern of the frigate.

I understand there are 13 decommissioned submarines stored afloat at Devonport dockyard but I'm not sure if sure that Dreadnought is one of them - if not then I assume she is one of the similar store at Rosyth. Either way, they are not in a state that would allow anyone to visit them even if Ministry of Defence allowed a visit. Courageous was made fit for visits and is occasionally open to visits as per the link I put in my previous post.

Just came across this image touting it as the HMS Trafalgar's screw. My gut reaction was that it was a mislabeled shot of the HMS Resolution's, but with the screw boss trailing edge vortex dissipator removed. But on closer inspection, the trailing edge of the blades end right at the split where the missing screw boss trailing edge hub would bolt on, and on the HMS Resolution's there is some distance/offset between the blade trailing edge and the break for the bolt-on vortex dissipator.

Anyone have any idea where this might be? Heading back to Google Earth and searching the grounds of the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport UK...
