Calling all HMS Dreadnought fans

Post by Dave Wooley »

Seen yesterday evening at the local model lake.
This 1:96 all scratch HMS Dreadnought on her
maiden voyage is the first model built by a
new comer to warships and took 3years to build .
Being his first model what will his second be like?
Well done to the modeller concerned :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

All scratch 1/96 Dreadnought A first build

Well Well, looks like you have competition at last. I'll have to get on with the 'Derfflinger' now, if only to frighten the Dreadnought!

Very nice model I must say, but the Union Flag shouldn't by hoisted on the forward jackstaff at sea, only in port. Didn't you get the guy's name?
If you didn't, I find it odd as you normally do.

An apology.

My previous comments re flag were uncalled for. A case of not thinking (do I ever??) straight. So to all concerned, especially to the inknown model maker, my profuse apologies. I bow my head in shame.

THAT is extremely sweet.

3 years? Yes...I'm on track then!

A beautiful model and well photographed...I'd appreciate some more if you have them, Dave?

Regards,

Andy

The model is almost totally scratch built . The hull, I believe is made using a combination of marine ply and card . I glimpsed the interior and yes it was constructed using a plank on frame method. Very little is of commercial origin. I think most "scratch" builders are tempted to use for what ever reason some commercial fittings but this guy manufactured just about the entire model and all credit to him .

i wish that they had "rc ship" lakes here in Nebraska because that would be sweet to go out and see all the ships on a saturday or sunday afternoon. I guess thats the price i pay for living in the middle of the USA.

 :faint: He made all of his own fittings?! I'm impressed.

Really "just for the record" - but in case anyone hasn't seen it on the main board, Zvesda have announced that they are to produce a 1/350th HMS Dreadnought.
