I don't normally post "E-Bay" links, but this one gobsmacked me :-

(For those of a skeptical frame of mind it is an auction for the ship's bell for HMS Duke of York (and "The Bell is currently held in UAE and can be seen for inspection" ! )

That's terrible. I hope a museum or other UK institution can get the funds together and return it to its rightful place. Laurence, it would look good in your library!

According to Roland Smith in the Naval Video Time Capsule Videos a Lt. Cmdr. who was onbaord DoY is responsible for saving alot of items onboard her for posterity.
I wonder if he saved this bell?
and no Ted too rich for me! It belongs in the NMM, though they would probably never put it on show!
