Calling all USS Ohio (1820) fans

Post by ModelMonkey »

The United States Navy commissioned fifteen Ships of the Line during the 19th Century. They were rated as 74-gun ships although they normally carried as many as 94 guns.

They were:
Alabama (renamed New Hampshire, later renamed Granite State)
America
Chippewa
Columbus
Delaware
Franklin
Independence
New Orleans
New York
North Carolina
Ohio
Pennsylvania
Vermont
Virginia

and Washington.

USS Ohio is a great example.

I have heard it said that "Ohio" was one of the best of the lot...A good sailor in most conditions.

I just wish that someone would produce a kit of one of these ships, either wood or plastic. Also, just a comment . . . all were 74's except for the USS Pennsylvania, which was a 120.
