1:700 HNS Hydra F-452

Post by Enioch »

Greetings fellow modelers, fresh fish here.

Posting some pics from a 1:700 Greek frigate I modeled for a friend who recently joined the navy and is currently serving on her.
The ship was modeled in Blender, and printed on an Anycubic 6k (amazing printer, not regretting that purchase). Painted mostly with Tamiya acrylics and weathered with the AK series of grimes. Thanks to Anthony Polychroniadis for his feedback!
The sea base is insulation foam and 2-part epoxy clay, sculpted and painted, with some glossy water and foam effects. I must credit StudioBlueOcean for demonstrating the technique (I'm pretty sure others here are using it, but that's where I first encountered it!)

The nameplate I etched myself on brass sheet, and I regret not doing it as a negative - it is very difficult to read, and it would have been better if the letters rather than the background had been etched (and then filled with some black panel lining or wash for contrast and visibility).

Excellent work in model and sea bed
It does look like Studio Blue Ocean job even bit simplified.
I don't use this technique because apart from huge workload demanded , the cost of epoxy putty is quite high. I would rather go for epoxy resin the ultimate material when comes to calm or almost calm sea presentation.
