HEL-126, One Man Shipyard, 1/144

Post by Mick M »

It is time to go back to the shipyard. I hope you didn't miss me too much  I got tired with all that junk designed to send some poor buggers to the other side. That's why this time i went for something designed for GOOD, because what can be better than fresh fish and chips ? This will be my first fully 3D printed model. I had encounters with some add-ons made in that technology, I had mixed feelings. We'll see.

The cutter itself is Polish post war development of Germak KFK, they were used even up to the '80s.  HEL-126 was lost with all hands on 8th of February 1979.

So far I'm impressed, there were some minor print artifacts on the rounded part of the hull, but I've eliminated them with my 3M sponge in about 15 minutes  I've left the hull on that base, because it levels it and makes marking the waterline easy-peasy. I'm going to put it on a  seascape, so I'm not worried about sanding down the keel.

I don't like working with white primer, but it's a necessity in this case.

I splashed some paint on that rubbish in the forecastle

and that's how much of it will be visible

Little SBS on the seascape, just in case anyone's interested.

I've trimmed the clay:

Framed it in cardboard:

Cardboard cut to shape and filled here and there :

I need to weather the hull before it goes into it and those little things weren't the cleanest of the ships ever
