1/84 (?) USS Tucumcari as on tests in1971

Post by Artoor »

Hello!

That was very simplified model, one of the oldest I've ever made. But hey...It's a JET HYDROFOIL, I had to have it :)

Aftermarket used:
1/72 CMK 40 mm gun and twin brownings, railing posts and winch from RB Model, two antennas from Master, Kajika 1/700 chain

Other upgrades:
soldered brass mast, gun guard, rear wash guard and flag staffs
scratchbuild exhaust, rear twin cannon, rudders
added lenses for lights and wave guard around 40 mm gun
modified instruments on top of bridge
minor upgrades of "boxes" between gun and superstructure

Model was painted with AK paint range, weathered with AMMO fluids and AK pencils.
Decals were so delicate (after 56 years) that I've nearly lost them, thankfully I've managed to use all but two.

I'm quite pleased with my Tucumcari, I must say :)
Hope you'll like it :)

Great job! Would like to stumble across one of these kits myself. Maybe Atlantis has the molds for it.

Nice build. Realitic but still with the foils moveable. And if it is really in 1/84 you may want to have look at the new/old Sealab kit.

Very nice!
I have this kit as well, this will be a good guide and inspiration as in one.
