Like about everything else, I have these guys in 1/2400.

I have several other pictures of these models over on the Google.

To save you the trouble of wading through:
Furious, Glorious, Hermes and Eagle, and HMS Audacity which I would also regard as rather early in her own peculiar way. Since Ark Royal has come up I have several photos of her: 1, 2, and 3. Further, here's another early-ish RN-ish aircraft carrier . . . of a sort: Empire MacAlpine and a few of her friends.

I might add that I wrote a post about my own conversion of one of Panzerschiffe's Courageous models. It's a bit old and thus on my "refit" schedule, but the basics of what I wrote there still form the foundation of what I do now. I gather I'm not the only person here modeling in "squint" scale. (Though I have modeled in larger scales on occasion.)

Planning HMS Glorious in 1940 using the HP kit, I'm searching for information about the island. The few pictures from this period are poor, the only thing that can be made out that it was enlarged, the lower platform got bigger wind deflector and that uppermost level was made bigger too although its shape is unknown.

Anyone any further information?

Good idea for a thread. Is there a good source for refit and air group history? What would it take to backdate the kit to a late '20s or early '30s fit?

Has anyone bought the Aoshima Hermes yet? Just wondering if there any problems with it, such as if it is underscale like the Aoshima Wasp?

I'm also surprised the Aoshima and Flyhawk Hermes kits haven't been added to the list at the very first post of this thread.

I am in the process of building the Aoshima kit. I measure it to be a millimeter under scale, but that could be me. It is not a bad Kit and I am pleased at the way it looks. It has nice detail especially the deck. I have also ordered the Flyhawk kit. I bought both because I'd like to see more early war carriers such as Courageous/Glorious /Furious/Eagle and more sales of these kits could lead to the others I want

I thought it may be nice to post this one here also apart from the Flyhawk Hermes thread. The National Maritime Museum seems to be putting a number of 'as fitted' drawings of these early carriers on line currently.
The best way to get to them is to go to the main collections site here http://collections.rmg.co.uk/collections.html#!cbrowse , put the ship name in the search box and once you have found one drawing click on the ship name in the lower right hand corner for more.

Be careful. I don't think those are "as fitteds" as generally understood--but rather the initial design for Hermes which reflected here intended appearance at the time of her launch in 1919, to which numerous changes were made by the time that Hermes was completed in 1924, which changed her appearance in a number of important ways. So they are not of use for assessing the accuracy of the model.

Anyway, the Hermes set includes both 1919 and 1924 plans and the sheer plan (ie lines) which did not really change after launch.
